BI, PDEA sanib-pwersa kontra drug trafficking

Papaigtingin ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) at Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) ang kanilang pagtutulungan laban sa illegal drug trade.

Papaigtingin ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) at Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) ang kanilang pagtutulungan laban sa illegal drug trade.

Pumirma ng Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) ang dalawang ahensya noong nakaraang February 28 na dinaluhan nina BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco at PDEA director general Moro Virgilio Lazo.

Layunin ng MOA na magtulungan ang BI at PDEA para masolusyunan ang problema sa drug trafficking sa bansa.

Binigyang-diin ni BI Commissioner Tansingco ang kahalagahan ng kanilang ahensya para maimbestigahan ang mga foreign national na posibleng sangkot sa bentahan ng iligal na droga.

“As the primary agency responsible for immigration and alien registration laws, the BI plays a crucial role in detecting and preventing the entry of individuals engaged in illegal activities, including drug trafficking,” lahad ni Tansingco.

“The MOA allows the BI to provide necessary intelligence assistance to thwart the movement of foreign drug traffickers,” aniya pa.

Sa ilalim ng kasunduan, ibabahagi ng BI ang kanilang nakalap na impormasyon tungkol sa mga banyaga na pinaghinalaang may kinalaman sa illegal drug trade.

“By leveraging the strengths of both agencies and enhancing information sharing, they are poised to strengthen border controls and protect the Filipino people from the threats posed by illegal drugs,” saad ng BI commissioner.
